Smokin’ Smoking Blogs
For some reason, when you search for smoking blogs – or even e-cigarette blogs – you seem to get blogs that were last updated in 2006, or that have just three posts on them – which is hadly the points of blogs. (Come on Google, sort it out!)
Yet despite this, there are some really good smoking blogs around, at least if you wade through the long list of abandoned blogs. In this post we list some of the best ones we have come across.
(Note most of these blogs seem to be pro-smoking – that’s not because we are particularly favouring these blogs, but because these are the ones who seem to stick at blogging. Presumably all the quit smoking bloggers have sucsessfully quit, and no longer need to blog!)
The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News, Analysis and Commentary: Written by a physician and professor specialising in preventative medicine and health, the Tobacco Analysis blog looks indepth at many of the stories coming out about smoking, and often exposes their weaknesses, exagerations and even lies.
I Need Smokes: A Pro-Smoking blog fighting against cigarette taxes and discrimination against smokers. The blogger has been blogging consistantly for four years!
The Cigarette Smoking Blog: A conservative smoker blogs about smoking, the right to kiss at a train station and other miscellanuous subjects.
Chantix Smoking: A blogger with emphysemia blogs about his struggle to give up smoking, as well as other smoking news.
Pro-Choice Smoking Doctor: A doctor who smokes, and believes we should have the right to choose whether we can smoke or not.
The Pub Curmudgeon: Although a non-smoker (but not an anti-smoker), this saloon-frequenting blogger is distressed at the effect of the smoking bans on Britain’s rapidly disappearing pubs.
Freedom to Choose: Freedom to choose is more of a campaign than a blog. On their home page they state that they are neither pro nor anti-smoking, but that the smoking ban, and its possible extenstion, represent an infringement of our civil liberties and our right to choose.
Final Puff: Radically different to some of the other sites linked to here, Final Puff, which covers news about the smoking ban, is dedicated to helping smokers give up and to celebrating the smoking ban.
Surreality Times: Excellent blog (recommended by Paul in the comments below) written by a team of writers who cover tobacco and anti-smoking issues.
Stand Fast: Smokers Lounge: A blog by the Rambler posting on smoking and anti-smoking issues – and, in its own words, fighting against the anti-smoker tryanny.
If you know of any more good smoking blogs we can list, (not started yesterday or abandoned six months ago) just suggest the url in a comment and I will add them here.
