Does Philip Morris Plan to Scupper the E Cigarette?
Philip Morris could soon have the ability to scupper the e-cigarettes in favour of its own products – cigarettes which contain, according to Professor Michael Siegel’s analysis of the FDA report into electronic cigarette, 1400 times as many nitrosamines as electronic cigarettes.
The tobacco company, which for years claimed that cigarettes were not harmful, is rumoured to be in negotiations with Ruyan.
Ruyan is the original manufacturer of the electronic cigarette and is suing many other manufacturers, claiming their design violates its patents.
A more pleasant alternative could be Philip Morris entering the e-cigarette market.
They would still have to combat the anti-smoking groups who have so viciously attacked the electronic cigarettes. However, all these groups have been bribed by big pharm – many even supported the Philip Morris sponsored tobacco bill – so this may not be a problem for a company with the type of resources Philip Morris has.

That is interesting and you are right in that it could be a very good thing to have such weight behind e-cigarettes.
Though from the anti-smoking groups this will be portrayed as proof that e-cigarettes are evil if Big Tobacco is supporting them. The web will be buzzing….cannot wait to see what Banzhaf will say.
Banzhaf will be happy whichever way things go.
If it is a plan to sabotage the e-cigarette he will be very happy. And who could do this better than Philip Morris, with their vast and experience litigation team to sue e-cigarette companies for copying the original e-cigarette design.
And if Philip Morris support the e-cigarette, he will also be happy – the tobacco companies association with electronic cigarettes will give ammunition to the enemies.
Although, as we have seen public health groups have shown themselves to be easily bought off. Unfortunately, existing e-cigarette companies don't have the resources buy them off.
