Do you use electronic cigarettes? Have you claimed to have replaced regular cigarettes with the devices?
If so, according to Utah politicians, you are a liar.
According to the Utah department of health, using electronic cigarettes doesn’t reduce smoking at all.
That’s despite several surveys where vapers say they have replaced regular cigarettes with electronic cigarettes.
So if you use electronic cigarettes, presumably you look like this gentleman:
(Thanks to John for letting me take these photos of him voping!)
How do you feel about being called a liar? (Although, if you answer that question how will I know you are not lying to me???)

This sounds like something Orrin Hatch would be behind. Anyone who reads this…it’s a bold faced lie. The e-cig helped me quit…100%.
I haven’t had a cigarette in 9 weeks and have absolutely no desire to because of the e-cig. And my husband still smokes so I am still around it…and the only thing that I notice…is that real cigs stink!!!!
vaping is NOT a nicotine replacement Therapy those that claim it is are indeed lying. I guess if it was part of a regimented course of cessation it might work but I myself don’t claim that it has stopped me smoking but I would interject that it is by far a much safer ALTERNATIVE.
Hey, Kristy, loads of people start saying that about two weeks after they quit. I think the sense of smell comes back. Although I still love the smell of fresh tobacco!
Sam, I agree with you. It’s the cigarette of the future! BTW, I haven’t seen your website before, will have to take a look round
Why would i lie about being smoke free for 1 year 95 days?
i suppose politicians lie so much they think everybody else lies too.
I can’t decide whether it is lying, ignorance or just gross stupidity.
On the first of April this year, I will have been tobacco free for two years thanks to good quality E-cig products. The original poster appears misguided by ” Utah politicians”.
They are politicians after all.
Is the OP in any way connected with that State’s political system?
Is the cigarette industry in any way influencing such an apparently venomous accusation toward E-vapers?
It’s just as likely to be the pharmaceutical industry behind it. They don’t want smokers thinking they can cut down with e-cigarettes instead of their smoking cessation aids.
I use to smoke a pack and 1/2 of cigarettes a day. I smoked for 32 years (since age 13). I received my first e-cig kit on September 20th, 2010 (Monday), that was also the day I bought my last pack of cigarettes. By Friday, 9/24/2010, I threw away a half a pack that was still left. Twice since then I have lit a cigarette but ended up throwing it out after a couple of hits because, to me, it just tastes nasty now.
Feb 8th, 2011 I received my e-cig and after 45 years of smoking I haven’t had one cigarette or even a desire to have one. I feel much better, no coughing, no snoring, I can smell and taste.
The Utah Dept Of Health is obviously as stupid as Health Canada which just banned nicotine for use in e-cigs.
I missed the biggest lie, which was pointed out by Tom 09 on Vapers Forum:
”Literally people are half-pack-a-day smokers and when they are smoking this [e-cig] they turn into 3-pack-a-day smokers.”

I vape, and while no one likes to be called a liar, I actually agree with the idea that most vapers have replaced one habit with another. So what? If I walk around with a piece of licorice hanging out of my mouth instead of a cigarette, isn’t it an improvement? Later, when I gave up nicotine, vaping really became fun. That’s because I could put my ecigarette down for days then pick it up when I felt like a treat. No craving, like when I smoked.
I smoked for 12 years. I LOVE TO VAPE (much more then I ever enjoyed smoking). 7 months and I haven’t bought a pack of cigarettes. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
You tell em, Kyle
Paraphrasing Mark Twain- It is better to stay silent and appear ignorant than to open it and remove all doubt. The simple observation that vaping organizations, social networks and venders are multiplying at high rates points to the reality that vaping is in some way helpful to many. No denial here, nicotine is part of my life. Have not used an analogue since the day I bought my first e-cig. No lie.
As Fox news pointed out recently, vapers are caught between two powerful lobbies, the tobacco industry which wants to maintain sales of cigarettes, and the pharmaceutical industry which wishes to maintain sales of quit smoking aids. Our only hope lies that so many people will switch to vaping that even powerful and rich interests can’t persuade the authorities to implement a ban.
I have not had a cigarette in two years .I use a ecig so I can say I have stopped smoking cigarettes completely.
What I don’t say is I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP SMOKING, I STILL SMOKE, I HAVE JUST CHANGED TO A PROVEN SAVER METHOD OF OBTAINING MY NICOTINE.
I am not a liar.
I love it when these politicians open their mouths, I have always said I know when a politician is lying, their lips move
But Utah doesnt have a monoply on daft politians, we have them in the UK, in fact I think we have more than our fair share
I cant understand why they have to get involved with anything that is personal, why dont they try and do the job they were actually voted into do, without trying to screw us all over
A politician is only doing the job because he cant do a real job, they hide behind that job, because if they were in the real world, they would get a smack in the mouth if they said these things in public
So Sam what is vaping if it is no0t nicotine replacement therapy???I take it vaping didn’t work for you and it won’t work for many people who don’t want it to work IMO but for me it took me 7 whole days from the time I picked up my vape stick to the time I completely gave up analog cigarettes. It has now been way over 100 days since I have had one of those cancer sticks. They work if you want it to and I do believe when you quit smoking the analogs you end up vaping more but then that subsides as well just recently I have found myself vaping less and less so it is all comes down to weather you want this to work or not.For those of us who are now pure vapors and have given up giving the government your hard earned money for something that will kill you CONGRATS and for the rest don’t give up it works but remember it takes some dedication to make the swap in full and yes many people are what I call in transition not many people can pick up a vape stick and throw away the lighter and analogs right away it takes practice you had to learn to smoke now you have to learn to vape so practice is all it takes some people can learn a poem after reading it 3 times some 5 times and some 100 times just cause it took me 7 days doesn’t mean anyone else can do that as long as you are not smoking the same amount as when you started then you are on the road to becoming a vapor and giving the cancer sticks up keep trying don’t give up
Peter, I think you got the wrong end of the stick there. Sam’s a vaper, runs the e-cig users, but I think sees vaping as a superior form of smoking rather than as a method of quitting.
Hmmm- I’m thinking about one of the claims made in the report:
”Literally people are half-pack-a-day smokers and when they are smoking this [e-cig] they turn into 3-pack-a-day smokers.”
This claim is obviously based on nicotine consumption (and ignores the HUGE REDUCTION in carcinogens from NOT burning tobacco).
So, I did a bit of research and found that the average tobacco cigarette delivers somewhere between 1-2mg of nicotine. Now, when I look at the pre-mixed e-liquids available they range from 0mg nicotine to 24mg on the extreme high side…BUT, it is important to remember the nicotine in an e-cig is delivered over time…
In my case, I’m using an eGo T clone style tank system that delivers approx 18mg per tank. So vaping approx 2.5 tanks per day so far, that’s averaging about 45mg of nicotine per day. Compared to cigarettes, I used to smoke “Salem” full flavor (1.2mg) x 40 per day. That’s 48mg of nicotine…so in my case there doesn’t seem to be a dramatic rise in the amount of nicotine per day, but there IS CLEARLY a dramatic DECREASE in the amount of carcinogens I’m consuming.
It’s as if they are purposefully avoiding comparing apples to apples in order to obscure the real issue, and providing these negative “sound bites” to create a negative impression that e-cigs are somehow worse than tobacco cigarettes, which is patently absurd.
Now why would the gov’t (tobacco taxers) and big tobacco (tobacco sellers) want to disparage e-cigs when it appears many, many, many people are finding out they prefer e-cigs (with or without nicotine) and can live much healthier lives without burning tobacco?
Things that make you go “Hmmm???”
After smoking cigarettes for almost 40 years (2 packs a day), I have not smoked a single one since my first ecig in December of 2011 – over 2 years ago.
I’m thrilled to no longer have to put up with that nastiness, I’m saving a lot of money not buying cigarettes, and I could care less what the Utah politicians say as long as I can still get my blu’s.
Oops! That’s December 2009 not 2011.
There’s some irony there in a politician calling anyone a liar! Vaping most definitely is many times proven better than any NRT program for quitting cigarettes, but it upsets the pharmaceutics and tobacco companies to read these facts.
Thousands can give this evidence, and will attest to much better health, since replacing cigarettes with vaping.
Politicians as we all know are lobbied by these companies with vast resources, therefore significantly more likely to lie through their teeth, as we are aware they would sell theirs and your grandmother’s to Arab nomadic tribes for slavery, if it benefited them.
Good point, Boadacia
Went totally onto e-cigs for years ago and can’t stand
cigarettes anymore. Husband smokes still but this doesn’t bother me. I’m english. Utah is in America – what else can you expect?
im on halo e cigs ,great not had ciggy for 3 months
Well done, Frank!
this politicin must want people to die in slow unhealthy manner. just stared vapering 3 weeks ago stopped smoking on same day he must have shares in tobbacco some should ask him
It’s well known that tobacco companies have huge lobbying budgets, though I haven’t seen much evidence they are lobbying against e-cigarettes (perhaps they are just more subtle than the pharmaceutical companies!) Glad vaping is working for you!
