An Electronic Cigarette Ban: What would users do?
About the Survey
We wanted to find out what electronic cigarette users would do if there was a ban on the electronic cigarette.
To find out, we asked the following questions:
1. To what extent they had replaced cigarettes with electronic cigarettes?
2. Would they return to cigarettes if it became difficult or impossible to buy electronic cigarettes?
3. Would they be prepared to buy electronic cigarettes on the black market if there was no other way to obtain them?
Summary of results
A large proportion of users (67.8%) had completely replaced tobacco cigarettes with electronic cigarettes. A further 29.5% had partially replaced tobacco cigarettes, while only 4 (2.7%) were still smoking the same amount of cigarettes.
However, 62.2% of users said they would return to cigarettes if the electronic cigarette was banned.

124 users (84.9%) said they were prepared to buy the electronic cigarette on the black market if they were unable to get them any other way.
