If you’re looking for a new vape starter kit, you could be forgiven for getting a bit confused by the myriad of options available.
Still, that’s better than the situation a few short years ago. Back then you essentially had a choice between a cigalike (an e-cig that looks like a cigarette) and a tank system.
The last 18 months or so have seen a revolution in back-to-basics vaping, with manufacturers finally focussing on producing a whole range of vape products for newbies. What’s more, there’s been a massive increase not only in terms of ease of use but also in quality, and if you tried vaping in the early days then you’re likely to get a pleasant surprise if you’re having a second go!
But with that focus also comes the challenge of navigating the many choices now available.
So in this post, you’ll find suggestions for some of the best vape starter kits to get started with. And if you’re looking for a bargain to get you started, you’ll find many of them listed on our New Year Vape Deals page!
Pod Vape Systems
Pod systems have been one of the big trends of 2018, and we predict this will continue in 2019. Why?
1. They’re compact: Most of these devices will fit neatly into your hand, bag or even a back pocket. (Not that we necessarily recommend that – sitting on your vape is not always a good idea.)
2. They’re easy to use. In fact if you use you pre-filled pods, it’s just a matter of clicking the pod into the battery and away you go.
3. They offer surprisingly good performance for what are usually very compact devices.

The Teros has proved the best selling pod system in our shops. This simple devices requires no buttons to operate and comes with refillable pods. It also comes with a neat thermochromic treatment which means the colour changes as your hands warm it up!
Pen Style and All In One Vapes
Pen styles are so called because of their longer and thinner design. Original pen-style devices did look very similar to a pen, but the evolution of their designs means you’d be hard put to describe some of these as a pen! You’ll find many of these are quite a bit thicker than a pen these days, but hey, the performance is the important part – and that’s where they have improved for the better.
Pen style vapes often overlap with All In One aka AIOs. In an All In One device you’ll get everything you need in one kit, and very often the tank can be screwed directly into the battery component.
The Aspire Pockex:

Probably one of the most popular all-in-one vape devices available today, the Pockex is hugely popular. It’s easy to use, reliable and produces a great vape. If it has one downfall, it’s that the tank can crack quite easily if dropped. So if you go for this one, it’s well worth adding a one pound vape band and putting it around the tank.
Beginners Mod Vapes
Back in the early days of vaping, when many e-cigs did not perform to vapers satisfaction, some vapers used modified devices which were capable of producing more vapour. The trend was so popular that manufacturers started producing mods which are, confusingly, not modified. While most mods are powerful and often complicated devices, you can now get devices which look like a mod but are suitable for a beginner.
The Wismec CB80
Click here to view the Wismec CB80, or click on the links below for a special bundle price, including the Wismec CB80 kit, e-liquid, and a case.
The Wismec CB80 has the heft and design of a vape mod, but comes with the tight draw that most new vapers prefer. Do note that in contrast to the other devices highlighted here, the Wismec CB80 requires external vape batteries.
The vaping revolution began with the humble cigalike. Nowadays these have been mostly displaced amongst newer vapers. They don’t have the same style appeal as modern vapes, and because you use them with pre-filled cartridges, there’s limitations on the amount of flavours you can use them with.
That said, cigalikes retain a huge fan base, many of whom have been using these cigarette style devices for years. In fact, we’ve found that many of our longstanding customers have steadfastly remained loyal to cigalikes despite the many variations of e-cigs we’ve stocked over the years.
You’ll find that cigalikes are the simplest of all e-cig devices to use, they’re small, light and look just like a regular cigarettes and you don’t need to mess around with e-liquid.
The Halo Cigalike Bundle
The Halo Cigalike bundle has been popular with thousands of vapers for many years. Using the same UK manufactured and tested e-liquid as the Halo range, the Halo cigalike features an automatic draw and uses pre-filled cartridges.
