The Truth About Electronic Cigarettes
In The Truth About Electronic Cigarettes, which was written in Quit Yesterday, Peter Jeffries writes:
In a nutshell, e-cigarettes aren’t a viable solution to quit smoking.
Few suppliers market the e-cigarette as a smoking cessation aid nowadays, so this is an invalid argument. But Peter’s insistence on dishing it is not surprising given the fact that he not only believes every other method of giving up smoking is rubbish, but that they actually do you harm:
There are a lot of methods under the sun that help you quit smoking. Acupuncture, nicotine patches, gums, hypnosis, nasal sprays, herbal concoctions and so on.
Well, here’s something you may not know…
The Majority Of These Methods
Can Leave You A Total Wreck
I’ll have you know, Peter, that our sales manager successfully stopped smoking using acupuncture. She did take it up again – 16 years later, only to stop with nicotine patches. Unlike you, I would encourage smokers who want to give up to try both of those methods.
Also, I am really interested to know why, if these alternative methods are so rubbish, you wrote this on your post about the electronic cigarette:
You don’t see the same sort of problems with natural therapies such as herbal blends, vitamins, hypnosis…
The only truly viable solution, of course, is provided by Mr Peter Jeffries in “my Core Desire program” which he will “allow” you to “test drive” for just $79 (wow, thanks Pete for allowing me to give you money) – although you had better do this quickly as he believes he is about to be shut down by the feds having discovered the tobacco companies’ big secret blah blah blah
Who knows, maybe his programme is not a scam and can help people.
(If you believe so you can sign up for his affiliate programme and get “huge payouts“!)
But the real problem is that not everybody succeeds in giving up smoking.
Some people can’t give up smoking and some people don’t want to give up smoking – and resent the implication that that they should.
Giving up nicotine, which many people believe is little worse for health than a cup of coffee, is not a moral imperative but a personal choice.
Ultimately, if we respect freedom then we should allow people to make their own choices, whether it is to try and give up, to continue despite the huge health risks – or to try an alternative such as electronic cigarettes.
There has been some research done into electronic cigarettes by people more qualified than either Peter or I to decide whether the electronic cigarette is safe or not. While we do need further research, at least we know that the substances contained within them are far safer than that contained in cigarette smoke. With one in two long term smokers eventually dying from smoking, taking up vaping may not be such a bad choice!
However, all our arguments against Peter’s blog post fall down against this masterly piece of logic:
A big concern is that as an electronic substitute, having something that is dependent on battery power for continued therapy that has no tested usage patterns may present problems for people who are heavy smokers, because when the e-cigarette runs out of battery power, it becomes useless.
Ever heard of spare batteries, Pete?

Wow, great post! You really destroyed the nay-sayers’ arguments, and have earned my respect in the process, for what it’s worth, haha.
Electronic cigarettes are harmless, and an incredible invention! You get the nicotine, but without the 4000+ harmful chemicals that are in regular cigarettes! I can actually breathe now, and I can smoke anywhere regular cigarettes are banned (bars, restaurants, even airplanes!), and I don’t have to pay those ridiculously steep tobacco taxes. Sooooo, what’s the downside? I found a site that reviews lots of different kinds of e-cigarettes, for anyone considering switching over that wants to learn a little more about them:

Nice post, you really summed it up for us! LOL. As an e-cig user I can say they are a Godsend. I was killing myself with cigarettes, even developing sleep apnea. Sometimes I'd wake up 10 times per night gasping for air, but now I sleep like a rock. I can breathe so much better, my sense of smell is improved, and I don't smell like an ashtray anymore!
Thanks,
