10 Best Cheap Vapes for 2025 (UK)

You’d have to be blind to miss the spiralling price rises of recent years. From the cost of your weekly shop to the electricity powering the device you’re reading this on, almost everything is more expensive.

Fortunately, not only is vaping much cheaper than smoking, it is also one area that seems resistant to price rises (so far!) In fact, buying a good vape kit costs less than it did a decade ago and, with many kits now at reduced prices, you can get a high-quality, big-brand device for less than a tenner. Sure, it won’t have all the bells and whistles of the fanciest devices - but at the end of the day, what’s important is it delivers the nicotine needed to keep you off cigarettes.

So in this post, we’ve selected a range of vape kits to suit every budget, along with some handy tips to ensure costs are low in the long term, not just when you buy your first kit!

Elf Bar Elfa Pro

6 Elfa Pro vape devices in various colours.

Reviewed by: Lloyd, ECD Team

If you’re familiar with Elf Bar disposables, the Elfa Pro device has all the convenience and flavour you’d expect - just in a replaceable, prefilled pod format.

The device is easy to use, and similar to disposables, with the main difference being that you can replace the pod when it’s empty. The battery can also be recharged, and the clear RGB indicator light at the bottom lets you know when the battery is running low.

The inhale firing activation is ultra-convenient and I found it very responsive and easy to inhale.

The build quality of this device is excellent and, being made from metal, feels far superior to Elf Bar disposables.

Testing the device using the Blue Sour Raspberry pod, I found the flavour was great and the set airflow produced a surprising amount of vapour for such a compact device.

Using the device straight from the box, I found I had to recharge it before the end of the day (probably due to the battery not being fully charged at first). However, when I’d fully recharged the battery it comfortably lasted a full day.

There are over 30 Elfa Pro pod flavours to choose from and, as an added bonus, the device is also compatible with Elfa and Lost Mary Tappo pods - offering even more options.

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • High-quality build
  • Strong flavour
  • Lots of flavour choice

Cons:

  • Not as cost-effective as a refillable device such as the ElfX kit

Oxva Xlim GO

Oxva Xlim GO vape device.

While the Oxva Xlim Pro proved a hit with both our staff and customers for its balance of ease of use and functionality, if you’re looking for a cost-saving alternative, a newer device from the Xlim Series is one to consider!

Suitable for most experience levels, the Xlim GO device is super easy to use with fixed-coil pods, inhale firing and automatic power settings.

While beginner-friendly, it also has versatile features such as adjustable airflow and a choice of pods that make it compatible with both high-VG and 50:50 e-liquids. Our in-house testing also found the flavour fantastic - even comparable with Vaporesso’s Xros Series devices.

At almost half the price, the Xlim GO still boasts the same 30W output and long-lasting 1000mAh battery as the Xlim Pro. While automatic power settings mean you get less control over your power output, this shouldn’t be a major issue for most vapers - and will be a plus for less experienced users.

Overall, the Xlim GO makes a great budget-friendly option for anyone looking for a no-fuss pod kit with long-lasting battery life, great flavour and a choice of vape styles.

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Long-lasting battery life
  • Great flavour

Cons:

  • Not as much control as Xlim Pro

Aspire Gotek Pro

Aspire Gotek Pro vape device.

Reviewed by: James, ECD Team

Having used other devices in Aspire’s Gotek series, I found the Gotek Pro to be the best so far. While it has the same futuristic design and ease of use, it also comes with hugely improved battery capacity.

The 1500mAh battery is very impressive for a compact pod kit (over double the Gotek X’s 650mAh) and easily lasts a full day of use.

Operation-wise, the name ‘Pro’ may be a bit misleading, as there’s nothing complicated about the device. It’s inhale-activated, the wattage is automatically set and there’s a simple airflow adjustment control at the bottom of the device that allows you to tailor your inhale.

Testing the device with Seriously Salty Black Lemonade nic salts, the Gotek Pro delivers superb flavour on the more restricted draw but was slightly lacking on the airier draw. The inhale was super smooth but, as someone who prefers a stronger throat hit, was a little too gentle for me.

To fill the device, you need to pull out the pod, lift the flap and insert your e-liquid bottle. While this isn’t as convenient as a top-filling device, it’s still relatively straightforward and the larger flap helps avoid the awkward fiddle you usually get with side-filling devices.

In terms of design, the Gotek Pro resembles a traditional box mod in shape if not size (despite being a pod system), and I like the transparent e-liquid window as this is always a convenient feature. While the increased battery capacity does mean it’s slightly heavier than the Gotek X (81g v 52g) it’s still a very compact and lightweight device that’s easy to use on the go.

Overall, this is a great option for vapers of all experience levels looking for an easy-to-use pod device that’s low-cost, convenient and has long-lasting battery life.

Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini

Woman vaping a Pink Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini device.

Reviewed by: Corey, ECD Team

Despite trying many vape devices over the years, Vaporesso’s Xros 3 Mini is still one of my all-time favourites. With this in mind, I was excited to see what the newer Xros 4 Mini had to offer.

At first glance, the device is small and stylish with a nice, slightly textured finish. The build also feels more premium compared to the Xros 3 Mini.

Operation-wise, the Xros 4 Mini is incredibly beginner-friendly - with fixed-coil pods, automatic power settings and inhale firing. This easy-to-use design makes this kit ideal for new vapers or disposable users looking for a no-fuss rechargeable device.

There is also the new addition of adjustable airflow control which allows you to tailor your inhale. While this is a nice feature for customisation, I personally feel it takes away from the device’s simplicity.

I’ve always been impressed with the flavour of Xros Series devices and, as usual, found using the Xros 4 Mini with the included 0.4ohm pod produced a ton of flavour and very impressive vapour for such a small device.

However, I found the flavour was a little too intense when used with my regular 20mg nicotine salts. I look forward to trying the device with a 0.6ohm Xros pod (sold separately) as I think this would be a perfect fit with my preferred e-liquid.

In terms of battery life, the 1000mAh battery lasted me most of the day - impressive for such a compact device and the fact I’m a pretty heavy vaper. When it came to charging, I found the bottom-placed charging port a little annoying as I feel a side-placed port is always more convenient.

Overall, the Xros 4 Mini shows significant improvement over the already-impressive Xros 3 Mini and is a great choice for anyone looking for a no-fuss pod kit with fantastic flavour.

Pros:

  • Great flavour
  • Easy to use
  • Compact, stylish design

Cons:

  • Only 1 pod included in kit
  • Charging port placement

Aspire Veynom EX

Aspire Veynom EX vape device.

Reviewed by: Corey, ECD Team

With its solid build quality, futuristic design and very nice paint finish, I was instantly impressed with the Aspire Veynom EX.

With a range of BP coil options, the 100W Veynom EX can be used for both Mouth-to-Lung (MTL) and Direct-Lung (DL) vaping but comes into its own as a DL device. I opted for the included 0.15ohm coil which provided impressive flavour and vapour and an overall good DL experience.

I like that the device can be used with a choice of 18650 and 21700 batteries (sold separately). Using a 21700 battery at 70W, the Veynom EX easily lasted me a full day of use - impressive as I’m quite a heavy vaper. (Tip: choose the Veynmon LX if you’d prefer a fixed-battery version.)

While I used the device in Wattage mode, there’s a choice of 5 other modes including Auto, Voltage, Bypass, CPS and TC options. I thought this was a nice selection as it caters to a range of experience levels. Newer users can use Auto mode which sets the best wattage for the coil, while more advanced vapers can use CPS or TC to really fine-tune their experience.

A big plus of this device was the display. The 0.96” TFT screen was very bright, vivid and easy to read - probably one of the best vape device screens I’ve used.

The only flaw I did find with the Veynom EX is the pod. Having to remove the mouthpiece to fill the pods is slightly inconvenient and I feel their plastic design lets down the otherwise excellent build quality of the device. Personally, I’d have loved to see this device as a mod and tank kit rather than a pod mod.

However, overall this is a great kit, especially for DL vapers. While there are options for less experienced users, I feel the choice of coils, external battery design and advanced mode options mean it is ideally suited to more advanced vapers.

Pros:

  • Great build quality & futuristic design
  • Supports a range of vape styles
  • 6 modes for different experience levels

Cons:

  • Inconvenient filling design

VooPoo Argus E40

The Argus E40 pod mod has impressed me on many levels - with a convenient and versatile design, great flavour and fantastic battery life.

I immediately liked the device’s design - it’s a good weight, feels comfortable in hand and the display screen is a perfect size. I also love the colour of the Starlight Purple version!

The most impressive aspect of this kit is the 1800mAh battery - which lasted me over 30 hours before needing to be recharged. I was also glad to see an accurate countdown timer when charging as I’ve found many devices take longer than stated.

Using the included 0.6ohm E40 pod, the flavour production was great and it provided a satisfying throat hit. The coil life was also impressive - lasting me several days of use. The fixed-coil design is convenient and I like that there are a range of resistance options to cater to different inhale styles and e-liquid types. Filling the pods is easy and the transparent design is always a plus so I can monitor my e-liquid levels.

The device has many convenient features, including Smart power selection and inhale firing options, as well as a handy safety feature where you have to ‘wake up’ the device if it is left idle for too long.

Overall this is a great option if you value flavour, convenience and battery life and like to switch up your e-liquids and vaping styles.

Pros:

  • Convenient design & features
  • Long-lasting battery life
  • Great flavour & satisfying throat hit
  • Range of compatible pod resistances

Smok Morph 3

Smok Morph 3 vape kit.

Reviewed by: Maya, ECD Team

As a long-time cloud-chaser, I’m used to using powerful, replaceable battery mods. While this kind of device suits my vape style, they do tend to be very bulky, advanced and complicated to use.

With a very large 230W of power and dual 18650 batteries, I was expecting the Smok Morph 3 to be much the same. However, I was pleased to find it surprisingly lightweight and easy to use with a choice of just 2 modes (Variable Wattage and Temperature Control). It also came with an extensive user manual to help you get to grips with using it.

The mod also has an impressive battery life - I found I only had to charge the batteries twice over 3 days of use. However, I did have issues with charging the device when needed. Firstly, it took a very long time to fully charge the batteries - which is expected with a dual battery mod but is still inconvenient. I also found the provided charging lead to be very short and difficult to insert into the charging port.

While this is a mod review, as I tested this mod as part of a kit it’s worth mentioning the included Smok T-Air Subtank. This tank produced great flavour and the airflow design allows for a very open, airy inhale and plenty of vapour - which is great for a cloud chaser like me!

The tank’s filling port is conveniently positioned at the top and is very large - making it perfect for using shortfill vape juices. It also has a very strong, sturdy design - which I confirmed when I accidentally dropped it and discovered no damage!

The only issue I did find with the vape tank was that it didn’t fit as securely onto the device as I’d have liked. However, it’s hard to determine whether this is specific to the mod or the tank itself.

Pros:

  • Powerful yet lightweight
  • Long-lasting battery
  • Easy to use
  • Great flavour & clouds

Innokin Adept Zlide

White Innokin Adept mod kit laying on a table.

Reviewed by: James, ECD Team

Vape shops and websites often recommend a pod or pen-style device like the Aspire PockeX to new vapers. But not everyone wants a compact device.

If you’re looking for something a bit chunkier, with great battery life but still easy to use, Innokin’s Adept Zlide is hard to beat.

First, there’s the intelligent wattage selection. The device gives you a range of power options to choose from depending on the coil you are using. This is a great option for new vapers, as it takes the guesswork out of selecting which wattage to use. By avoiding user error, you can also expect better flavour and longer-lasting coils.

If you’re clumsy (like me!) you’ll also appreciate the toughness of this device. The Adept mod is IP67 dustproof, shock-proof and water resistant, meaning it can take the occasional drop (even into water!) and carry on working.

The device comes with a 3000mAh battery, giving it an excellent battery life. Overall this is a great mod both for beginners and vapers who prefer an MTL vape.

Pros:

  • IP67 water, dust & shock proof design
  • Long-lasting 3000mAh battery
  • Beginner-friendly auto wattage selection

Cons:

  • Screw in coil design

Vaporesso Target 100

Grey Target 100 vape kit.

Reviewed by: Corey, ECD Team

At E-Cigarette Direct, we’ve always been fans of the Vaporesso Target 100. In fact, we’ve written a whole blog post on its amazing flavour. So, I tested out the Target 100 as part of the newly updated Target 100 iTank 2 kit to see what all the fuss is about!

The mod itself was a pleasure to use - sitting comfortably in hand and with a clear, easy-to-read screen and nice, tactile buttons.

The option of being able to use both 18650 and 21700 batteries is a great bonus. As a heavier user, the 18650 battery isn’t enough to get me through a day’s vaping, so the 21700 option would be ideal for me.

The mod’s 100W output was enough to provide me with a satisfying Direct-Lung (DL) vape but may not be enough for those who prefer huge amounts of power. (These users may want to opt for the twice as powerful, dual-battery Target 200.)

While the Target 100 has a choice of vaping modes available (including Variable Wattage (VW), Bypass, Pulse and DIY), I found myself sticking to F(t) flavour-enhancing mode. This really did give something extra when it came to flavour production with my favourite vape juice (Aisu Blue Raspberry shortfill).

Overall, this is a great mod device in all key areas (operation, battery life and flavour production), with no major downfalls. While it may not be powerful enough for some, the option of the Target 200 is always there so Vaporesso have really covered all areas here.

Pros:

  • Superb flavour with F(t) mode
  • 5 vaping modes allows you to customise your vape
  • Choice of 21700 or 18650 battery (not included)

Cons:

  • Not suitable for beginners/less experienced users

Innokin Coolfire Z80

Innokin Coolfire Z80 vape device.

Reviewed by: James, ECD Team

As a long-time fan of Innokin’s Coolfire range, I was excited to see how the Z80 differs from previous iterations.

In terms of design, it’s a modest-sized mod with a soft leather finish and the gold sheen around the fire button is a nice bit of attention to detail. The display screen is crisp and clear and I like the choice of screen options - with ‘Pro’ displaying all information and ‘Minimalist’ showing just the most important.

Operation-wise, I’d call this device ‘clever but easy to use’. If you’re less experienced, you simply need to turn the device on and select your wattage. If you’re more experienced and want to fine-tune your vape you can access the intuitive menu for the more advanced modes.

Having previously encountered FO mode in the Innokin Sensis device, I was pleased to see it included here as it allows you to adjust your frequency (measured in Hertz) for improved flavour and vapour. Using the included 0.3ohm Z coil at 20HZ, I noticed thicker vapour and richer taste. There’s also Refresh mode - which primes your coil between uses to help improve coil life. However, unlike the Sensis, this is optional rather than automatic.

With 80W of power and the lowest compatible coil resistance being 0.3ohm, the Z80 kit can produce some good clouds, although it’s certainly not the best vape mod I’ve tried for serious vapour production. However, what it does produce is great taste, especially in FO mode. I also like that FO mode works with other tanks and coils, meaning you can simply switch the tank to get a more serious DL vape.

The only downside with this kit is that I could only use the included USB-C charging cable, unlike other devices that work with standard/universal cables.

This aside, Innokin gets a lot of the little details right with this kit. It’s easy to use with two great pieces of technology that greatly improve your vaping experience. While I wouldn’t recommend this device to a serious cloud chaser, for those who want great taste and control over their vape, it’s hard to beat!

Pros:

  • Clever but easy to use with optional modes
  • Great flavour & taste-enhancing FO mode
  • Self-priming technology
  • Choice of screen options

Cons:

  • Not compatible with all USB-C chargers

What to consider when looking for a cheap vape device

While saving money is important, there are some areas where it’s best not to compromise - as doing so can end up being more costly in the long term! These are:

Choose a reliable brand

When it comes to vaping, brands matter. Getting the details of vaping right - the coil, the anti-leaking mechanisms, that feeling on the back of your throat - is tricky. Some brands have spent years working on these details, and it’s worth sticking with the ones that (mostly!) get it right. Fortunately, most of these brands also produce very reasonably priced devices. Here are some great brands to choose from!

Make sure it’s legal

There’s another reason not to buy just any old thing from a market stall! Not all devices available in the UK are legal - some have been smuggled in. And that matters, because UK regulations require all devices to undergo testing before they can go on sale. This testing helps eliminate toxins, meaning legal vape devices are as safe as possible. In contrast, illegal devices could produce more toxins, and contain e-liquid that contain banned or harmful substances.

Here’s some clues which will help you to identify if your device is legal.

5 top tips for saving money when you vape

As you may have gathered from this post so far, if you really want to save money, you need to think about more than the cost of the initial purchase. The cheapest devices to buy are often some of the most expensive to maintain in the long run. Here’s five things to consider…

1. Avoid disposable vapes

Disposable vapes can appear cheap, but that’s not actually the case. In fact, 1ml of e-liquid in a disposable vape often costs more than 10ml of e-liquid for use in a refillable device. It’s well worth spending a little more on a reusable device - and reaping long term savings from doing so.

2. Use refillable devices

As we’ve touched on before, using refillable pods or tanks is the next step on your journey to becoming a savvy budget vaper. Pre-filled pods are better value than disposables, but buying e-liquid and refilling your device yourself represents better value again.

3. Choose replaceable coils

The final step is to choose devices with replaceable coils. Many vapers are worried this will be fiddly, but vaping technology has come a long way in recent years. With most devices, push-fit coil technology means you no longer need to unscrew the coil - so for a few seconds of your time, you no longer need to replace the whole tank, but can replace just one part of it instead.

4. Add e-liquid to get to the free shipping threshold

Many sites offer free shipping over a threshold. For example, at E-Cigarette Direct you can free 48 hour tracked shipping on orders over £15.00 and free 24 hour tracked shipping on orders over £20.00 - meaning you can often get a cheap bottle of e-liquid by increasing your order slightly.

5. Look for sales and clearance

Finally, it’s a great idea to keep an eye out on vape sales and clearance pages. The wonder device of last year is still a great device, but can often be picked up for a bargain price by the savvy shopper.

Wrapping up

Let’s face it, given the current price of cigarettes, even relatively expensive vape kits and e-liquid offer serious savings over smoking. Armed with these tips and recommendations, you’ll be able to maximise your savings even more!
