What are prefilled pod vape kits?

A prefilled pod kit is a rechargeable device that comes with pods already filled with e-liquid. The pods clip straight in, and when one is empty you replace it with a new one while keeping the same device.

Because only the pod is replaced, the weekly cost stays low and very little goes in the bin. There is no filling, no coil changes and nothing to set up, making these kits one of the simplest ways to vape.

How do you use a prefilled pod system?

Simply clip the pod in and inhale!

How to use a prefilled pod system

Are prefilled pod systems right for you?

Pros

  • Convenient and easy to use
  • Pocket friendly
  • Pods cost far less than replacing a whole device
  • Batteries can be recharged, reducing environmental waste

Cons

  • Less choice than regular e-liquid
  • More expensive than refillable devices
  • More plastic waste than refillables

Prefilled pod systems are best for vapers who want to combine the strong, sweet flavours of popular disposable vapes with a compact, convenient and more cost-effective vape system. As you don’t buy a vape battery every time you need a new pod, the cost is vastly reduced, but the ease of attaching a pod means it is just as convenient to use as a disposable device.

For longer-lasting use and added convenience, we’re also seeing an increasing number of Big Puff vapes. These feature a rotating, multi-pod design which extends use even further as when one prefilled pod is empty you simply rotate to the next.

What’s more, the ease of use of prefilled pod systems and a Mouth-to-Lung inhale that replicates the draw of cigarettes makes them a superb introduction for new vapers. The nicotine salts format most prefilled pods use also makes them ideal for vapers who prefer a smooth throat hit even at higher nicotine levels.

If you want to maximise cost effectiveness, have the opportunity to try a wider range of flavours and reduce waste even further, we recommend using refillable vape pods instead. These pods can last up to two weeks, which means you can reduce both cost and plastic waste, while bottled e-liquid bought costs less per ml than that found in prefilled pods.

How can you choose the best prefilled vape pod for your needs?

There is no single best prefilled pod kit; the right one depends on how you vape.

  1. Consider the draw: prefilled pods use a 50:50 e-liquid blend suited to a MTL inhale. Hexa pods give a tighter, more restricted draw, while most big puff kits feel airier.
  2. Think about capacity, whether it is important to you to vape longer between replacing pods. Classic kits like the SKE 600 Pro take one pod at a time, and typically need the pod replacing daily. Big Puff kits hold several times this - for example, the Dojo Blast 10K holds 10ml of e-liquid. Big Puff kits are also typically cheaper per ml of e-liquid.

FAQs

How long do prefilled pods last?

That depends on the device, how often you puff, how long your puffs are and how intensely you puff. It can also depend on the nicotine level, as most people take more puffs from devices with lower nicotine levels and less from devices with higher nicotine.

For maximum capacity, choose a big puff device with 10ml or more e-liquid, as this will last most people several days before the pod needs replacing.

Is the nicotine strength the same in prefilled pods?

Most prefilled pods contain 20mg (2%) nicotine salt. Some ranges also offer lower strengths for vapers who want a lighter hit. If you prefer a lower nicotine strength, check for a drop down box on the pod page, and then select the nicotine strength you prefer.

Can I refill/reuse prefilled pods or are they single use?

No - while the batteries can be recharged, the prefilled pods are designed for single use only. If you want more choice, or to reduce the cost of vaping, we recommend switching to a refillable pod device.

How often do I need to replace the battery/device when using prefilled pods?

The lifespan of a pod system's battery can vary, although on average they’ll need replacing roughly every 6 months. The actual lifespan depends on a number of factors such as how heavily you use the device, and how often you need to recharge it. Regular care and proper charging practices can help maximise your device's longevity.

What is a 4-in-1 vape?

A 4-in-1 vape is a prefilled pod kit that holds four flavour pods in one device, usually on a rotating carousel. When one pod runs out, you twist to the next instead of fitting a new one.

Each pod holds up to 2ml of e-liquid, so a 4-in-1 kit carries up to 8ml in total.

What replaced disposable vapes in the UK?

Prefilled pod kits are the closest replacement for disposable vapes, which were banned from sale in the UK on 1 June 2025. They look and feel similar and use the same nicotine salt e-liquid, but the battery recharges and only the pod is thrown away. Most manufacturers recreated their bestselling flavours in their prefilled ranges, so old favourites are usually still available.
