As with the original Nord, the pocket-friendly Smok Nord 2 combines the classic pod style design with a duck-bill mouth-piece which features a “lip curve” which fits the contours of your lips.
While some pod systems come with an automatic draw, the Smok Nord 2 is operated with a button system. Simply press the button five times to turn on and hold down to vape. The button operation is handy for vapers who like to turn their device off when not in use.
The Smok Nord 2 comes with 1500mAh of battery capacity. That’s an extra 400mAh over the original Smok Nord, so you can vape the device for longer between charges. Meanwhile, quick charging functionality means your Nord 2 will reach full power quicker too.
The Nord 2 comes with a wattage output from 1 to 40 watts, and can be used with a range of different resistance coils. This means it is a versatile device which can be used for a tight, restricted mouth-to-lung vape or a loose, airy direct-to-lung vape.
The Nord 2 comes with two pods. The RPM pod comes with a 0.4Ω mesh coil pre-installed. The mesh design maximises the surface area of the coil to the e-liquid, and is best used with high VG e-liquids and is the best option for a direct-to-lung vape. The Nord Pod comes with a 0.8Ω pre-installed coil and is best for a mouth-to-lung vape. The pods come with a push-and-plug system to ensure installing the coils is quick and easy.
Who’s it for?
The Nord 2 is ideal for intermediate-to-experienced vapers who prefer compact devices. This is a versatile device which will suit both MTL and DTL vapers.

How long do Smok Nord 2 Pods last?
As Smok Nord 2 Pods are separate from the Nord Coils, they do not need regularly replacing, and could last many months.
Which coils are compatible with the Smok Nord 2?
Smok Nord pods are compatible with Nord Coils, and RPM Pods are compatible with RPM Coils.
How long do Smok Nord 2 Coils last?
Coil life depends on many factors such as frequency of vaping, how long the puffs you take are and the wattage you use the device. That means coils can last anything from a few days to several weeks. To maximise the life of your coil, always prime your coil before using it (see product care tab for details), keep your e-liquid topped up and ensure you use the appropriate wattage.
How long does the Smok Nord 2 battery last?
The Smok Nord 2 comes with a 1500mAh battery, which is substantially larger than the 1100mAh battery that the original Smok Nord had. As always the battery life depends on the wattage use - at lower wattages, the battery will last longer. That said, the battery should give most users at least a day of use.
What e-liquids can I use the Smok Nord 2 with?
The Smok Nord 2 is a versatile device which can use different e-liquids depending on the coil used. Use higher resistance coils, such as the original 1.4Ω MTL coil, for nicotine salts and 10ml e-liquids with a VG:PG ratio of around 50:50, and use the low resistance 0.4Ω mesh coils for e-liquids with a VG:PG ratio of around 70:30.
How do I adjust the wattage power on the Smok Nord 2?
Press the power button 3 times to activate the power setting. The wattage value will begin to flash. Then press the power button to change the power level.

When we saw the original Smok Nord of the device, we knew it was going to be a hit. That certainly proved to be the case, with the device rapidly becoming one of our best selling devices in our stores. It wasn’t just a hit with customers - the device also won the best pod vape at the Vaping 360 awards.
Why did it become so popular?
One factor is the combination of sub-ohm capability in such a dinky device. The pod system will easily fit into the pocket but comes with a 0.6 ohm coil, meaning it can produce larger clouds than similar devices.
The quality of the vape was excellent, and rapidly won fans. Smok’s build quality and reliability has increased hugely over the last year or so, and the pod system certainly reflected this. Finally, the Duck Billed drip tip also proved popular, with a contour designed to fit a vapers lips.
Now Smok have launched a new version of the device - the Nord 2. While we wait for this device to come into stock, let’s have a look at what’s new….
Greater power range
Smok have massively upped the power range with the new Nord 2. While the original came with a wattage range of 10-15 watts, the new device can be used at anything from 1 to 40 watts, making it ideal for vapers who want to get larger clouds of vapour.
To activate the wattage range, press the button 3 times, then hold the button down continuously until it reaches your preferred wattage level.
The Nord 2 comes with two pods, both with coils pre-installed. The RPM pod is the one you want for cloud vaping, coming with a 0.4 ohm mesh coil - that compares with a 0.6 ohm coil in the original device. That means the Nord 2 can produce thicker vapour than the original, especially when combined with the higher wattage range.
The mouth-to-lung Nord pod also comes with a lower resistance 0.8ohm coil, which is a fair bit lower than the original 1.4ohm MTL coil in the original device. This should make it ideal for the MTL vaper who likes a bit of oomph.
One frustration we used to have with old Smok devices in the past is the need to match new devices to new coils. Handily, these pods are cross-compatible with previous NORD/RPM coils, so you still have the full range of resistances to choose from.
Improved battery capacity
The original Smok Nord came with a battery capacity of 1100mAh. While that’s sufficient for a small pod system, in 2020 we’re increasingly seeing larger battery capacities coming out.
The Smok Nord 2 doesn’t disappoint, with a 1500mAh fixed internal battery capacity, which is handy if you are taking advantage of the increased wattage range.
A further addition to the Nord 2 is the power charging display unit, so you can now see battery levels and estimated charge time.
The airflow remains in the same place, just below the pod, but comes with enlarged airflow holes to enable the device to handle the increased power and lower resistance coils.
The information displayed on the Smok Nord 2 is also massively improved, with a 0.69 inch OLED to display information such as the wattage setting.
The Smok Nord 2 is a smidgeon larger than the original - but only a smidgeon. As you can see below, with just a millimetre added onto the length, most users probably won’t notice the difference.
(Do note the increased e-liquid capacity shown in the image below won’t apply to UK/EU versions of the device, due to pesky TPD restrictions!)
Who’s it for?
As with the original, the Smok Nord 2 is designed to offer both MTL and DTL styles. The device will suit vapers who want to go further into sub-ohming and cloud vaping, without the size associated with more powerful mods, and get a bit more oomph with their vape. It’s also a good option for vapers who like to switch between DTL and MTL styles of vaping.
While not difficult to use, we never recommend sub-ohm devices for a new vaper, who would be better off with a more basic starter kit such as the Innokin GO S. Meanwhile, vapers who need more than 40 watts of power would be better off with a more powerful Pod Mod, such as the Vaporesso Target PM80.

Extending Your E-Cig Battery Life
With regular usage, your e-cig battery will usually last for 3 months, although they can last longer. The following steps can help extend the life of your battery
- Cleaning your battery terminal. The most effective way to do this is to use a cotton swab soaked in alcohol, but you can also clean it with a tissue or a cotton swab.
- Keeping your battery charged. Keeping some charge in your battery can extend your battery life, especially if you go for some time without using it.
Using Your Tank: Best Practice
Follow these simple steps to get the most out of your tank.
- When filling, always avoid getting e-liquid in the centre tube.
- Don’t hold down the button before inhaling.
- When attaching the coil, screw it in firmly but don’t over-tighten.
- Make sure you use the right power settings. If unsure, check the manual or start with a low power setting and work your way up till you get the right hit.

[Advanced Tanks] How To Maximise the Life Of Your Coils
Coils don't last forever, but by taking a few easy steps you can often extend their life!
First, it's well worth priming your coil before you use it for the first time. Simply add a couple of drops of e-liquid to the ports in the coil and in the opening of the coil head.
Always allow your e-liquid to soak into your coil for at least five minutes before using it. This will help prevent your coil from burning out.
Once you’re using the device, it is important to keep your tank topped up. If the e-liquid gets too low and the coil is exposed, the coil can burn out.” .
