Geekvape Aegis Legend 3: Superb build quality
Reviewed by: Corey, ECD Team
Having used many Geekvape mods in the past, I expected the Aegis Legend 3 to be tough, powerful and high-quality. However, I was blown away by just how high-quality this device is - quite possibly the best build quality I’ve ever seen!
With Geekvape’s signature IP68 protection, the mod feels extremely robust and the paint finish is top notch.
With up to 200W of power and a choice of 6 modes, this is definitely a device for more advanced vapers and, as an experienced vaper myself, I can’t fault the performance of this kit.
With dual 18650 batteries, the battery life was impressive - lasting me a full day of use at 70W. While this does depend on usage frequency and wattage, the replaceable batteries mean you can always swap them for charged replacements if you wish.
The included Z Fli tank is just as high-quality - with a superb build and generous top-filling port that easily accommodates my 100ml shortfill e-liquid bottle.
Using the included 0.15ohm coil, the tank produced excellent flavour and vapour with a smooth airflow - everything I’ve come to expect from Geekvape tanks.
The new Smart Unlock feature works surprisingly well - unlocking the buttons when you hold the leather at the back of the device. However, it may work a little too well as it seemed to unlock when anything came into contact with it - so doesn’t stop all accidental presses or misfires.
Overall, this is an extremely impressive mod kit that I’d recommend to advanced vapers looking for excellent flavour, vapour and fantastic build quality. I’d also love to see Geekvape apply this level of quality to a pod mod device in the future.
What we like:
- High-quality, durable design
- Fantastic flavour & vapour
- Impressive battery life
- Wide range of modes
What we don’t like:
- Unlocks too easily

Smok X-Priv Plus: Flavour without the fuss

Reviewed by: Lloyd, ECD Team
Rookie mistake - despite a decade of vaping experience, I forgot to prime the coil. I could have had the taste of burning tyres - instead the Smok X-Priv Plus delivered rich flavour, no burning and not a drop of leakage.
That turned out to be the theme of this test, with the X-Priv Plus proving to be a solid, no-nonsense vape mod which does its job well and without any fuss. The dual 18650 setup charges quickly, the tank is easy to fill (no leaky, annoying rubber bungs!), and even with heavy use, it stays cool and spit-free. So far, it hasn’t leaked once.
The build quality is another win. It feels solid in the hand, the large fire button is perfectly placed under the thumb, and the large screen clearly shows everything you need - wattage, coil resistance, battery levels, puff counter and more.
Advanced vapers might find it limiting. You can adjust the wattage, reset the puff counter and switch between a few screen themes, but that’s about it. You also can’t swap out the drip tip, further reducing the opportunity for customisation.
But if you’re after a reliable, straightforward Direct-Lung vape with plenty of airflow and a wide wattage range, this device nails it. No drama. No stress. Just solid vaping with plenty of flavour.
What we like:
- Easy-to-use with large, clear screen
- Solid metal body build
- Superb flavour even without priming
What we don’t like:
- No drip tip customisation or advanced settings

Eleaf iStick Power 2: Best for battery life

Reviewed by: James, ECD Team
The iStick brings back fond memories for me, as it was one of my preferred devices in the early days of vaping. In fact, looking back, I can see that I was writing a review of the original Eleaf iStick almost exactly ten years ago! Let’s see how the much newer mod version compares!
First off, there’s the battery. At 5000mAh, it’s not far off the capacity of two external batteries. If you choose to use this as a Mouth-to-Lung device, the lower wattages means this device could easily last you for days before needing a recharge.
I also really like that the battery charger is set on the side, which allows you to stand the device up while it is charging, ensuring the coil remains saturated with e-liquid.
The iStick Power 2 comes with smart mode, which keeps the wattage in the recommended range for the coil you are using. This prevented coil burn out when I forgot to lock the device and pocket pressed it! Experienced vapers who want to experiment outside recommended wattage ranges can optionally turn smart mode off.
At lower wattages and with a Mouth-to-Lung inhale, this device performs extremely well, providing a warm, flavourful vape. I found the device could mostly handle high VG e-liquids well, although I did manage to burn one 0.4ohm coil when I cranked the wattage up to the max allowed under smart mode. Overall, though, I think this device performs better for MTL vaping.
What we like:
- High-quality, durable design
- Fantastic flavour & vapour
- Impressive battery life
- Wide range of modes
What we don’t like:
- Not the best option for Direct-Lung vaping

Aspire Rover Plus: Great choice for MTL vaping
Reviewed by: Corey, ECD Team
Having used Aspire kits in the past, the first thing I was pleased to notice about the Rover Plus was the included AF tank and AF coils as I’ve always found these coils to have great flavour and longevity.
I was proved correct when testing the kit with my Halo Max Blue Raspberry salts. The flavour and draw are excellent - up there with the top MTL kits on the market. However, the tank could benefit from a little more airflow adjustment as it felt a little restricted for my liking.
The Rover mod features very good build quality and an impressive 2600mAh battery in a fairly compact mod kit. The choice of 5 operation modes adds a lot of customisation and is ideal for intermediate to advanced vapers who like a lot of control over their vape.
While the 40W output may not be enough for some, there are still enough compatible coil options to suit a wide range of vapers’ needs.
Overall, this is a great kit, particularly for MTL vapers who value flavour and customisation in their vape.
What we like:
- Ideal for MTL vapers
- Great flavour
- Impressive battery capacity
- Choice of 5 modes
What we don’t like:
- Airflow doesn’t open wide enough for DL vaping

Innokin Adept Zlide: Best vape mod starter kit
Reviewed by: James, ECD Team
Vape shops and websites often recommend a pod or pen-style device like the Aspire PockeX to new vapers. But not everyone wants a compact device.
If you’re looking for something a bit chunkier, with great battery life but still easy to use, Innokin’s Adept Zlide is hard to beat.
First, there’s the intelligent wattage selection. The device gives you a range of power options to choose from depending on the coil you are using. This is a great option for new vapers, as it takes the guesswork out of selecting which wattage to use. By avoiding user error, you can also expect better flavour and longer-lasting coils.
If you’re clumsy (like me!) you’ll also appreciate the toughness of this device. The Adept mod is IP67 dustproof, shock-proof and water resistant, meaning it can take the occasional drop (even into water!) and carry on working.
The device comes with a 3000mAh battery, giving it an excellent battery life. Overall this is a great mod both for beginners and vapers who prefer an MTL vape.
What we like:
- Great for beginners
- Intelligent wattage selection
- Dustproof, shock-proof and water resistant
What we don’t like:
- Wattage range too low for cloud vaping

Aspire Zelos 3: Long lasting power and customisation
Reviewed by: Corey, ECD Team
The Aspire Zelos 3 is a great option for those looking for long-lasting power and customisation.
Design wise, this feels like a premium vape kit - with both the Zelos 3 mod and Nautilus 3 vape tank having very good build quality. The mod’s rounded design provides a comfortable grip and I like the tank’s easy sliding top fill design.
The mod features an impressive 3200mAh battery and will last most users a full day of use depending on wattage, coil resistance and usage frequency. This kit has broad appeal - with a wide range of coil options to cater to a range of vape styles and a choice of 5 modes offering a lot of customisation.
Using the kit with the included 0.7ohm mesh Nautilus coil, the flavour production was very good and, while not as strong as with some similar devices, I appreciated that the taste wasn’t too overpowering. I personally found the airflow to be a little restricted for my liking but the draw does simulate a cigarette well and would be great for former smokers.
What we like:
- Choice of 5 modes
- Long-lasting battery
- Easy grip, rounded design
What we don’t like:
- Airflow is a little restricted

Vaporesso Armour G: 80 watts of pure flavour in a compact design
Reviewed by: Lloyd, ECD Team
The Vaporesso Armour G is more pod mod than pure mod. However, the quality of the device more than justifies its inclusion here.
First, and perhaps most importantly, I found that using the included 0.4ohm GTX coil and 50:50 bar salts at 22W, the flavour produced was excellent - much better than I get from my other regular devices.
The device is also comfortable to hold, comes with a sturdy rubber base and is surprisingly compact for a mod that can output 80 watts. If you’re looking for an accessible, easy-to-use device, you’ll also find that smart mode is really handy, automatically selecting the best coil for the wattage you are using.
In terms of operating the device, there’s an impressive amount of customisation options - with Smart, Pulse and Eco modes, adjustable screen brightness and a range of display themes. I’m also very pleased to see a wattage lock option and a physical locking switch that prevents misfires in my pocket!
It's hard to think of negatives, although extreme vapers may prefer a wider wattage range. In that case, you’d probably be better off looking at a pure mod such as the Smok X-Priv Plus.
What we like:
- Supports a range of vape styles
- Choice of 3 modes
- Great flavour production
What we don’t like:
- We couldn't think of anything!

Voopoo Drag 5: Super Airflow and Impressive UI

As I usually use Smok devices, I came to the Voopoo Drag 5 with fresh eyes – and walked away seriously impressed.
First, there’s the tank, which I think is one of the best I’ve used. It features top airflow control that opens up really wide, and thanks to that, the vapour is cooler than many other direct-lung devices. Testing it with a 0.3ohm coil, I found it produced great flavour with two different juices – a nice surprise compared to some DL devices that focus more on clouds than taste.
The tank was easy to fill, and the spill-resistant design keeps the process clean. The coil isn’t pre-installed, but fitting it is a doddle, and the tank is easy to take apart and reassemble if you ever need to replace the glass.
Some users may find the drip tip a little short, but I didn’t find this an issue – the excellent airflow keeps it cool unless you really hammer the device.
The device runs on two 18650 batteries, which provide solid battery life and recharge quickly. The menu system is top notch, with a clear, well-designed display that’s also highly customisable, including theme and colour options. I also like the information provided on the batteries – in addition to telling you the percentage for each battery, the mod not only shows the percentage but also evaluates the health of each battery and lets you know when you need to change one.
While the Drag 5 has quickly become one of my favourite DL devices, it’s definitely on the larger side. That works well for me at home (I tend to lose small MTL kits!), but if you prefer something compact and lightweight, this may not be ideal. The only other downside I found was the battery compartment, which opens a little too easily – the magnet could be stronger.
What we like:
- Wide, effective airflow
- Rich flavour even at higher wattages
- Battery health evaluation
- Customisable display and themes
What we don’t like:
- Battery compartment could be more secure
- Drip tip might be too short for some
