The Smok IPX 80 is a versatile pod kit that delivers up to 80 watts of power and supports either a Mouth-to-Lung or Direct-Lung vape, depending on the coil and settings used.
Available in 7 colour options to suit your personal style, this is a tough and durable device. The kit has been certified IPX67 and is waterproof, dustproof and shockproof - making it ideal for outdoor use.
What sets this device apart from its predecessors is it’s incredibly smooth, adjustable airflow. Allowing you to fully personalise your vaping experience, the airflow is controlled via two wheels fitted to the side of the device. Simply rotate them left to increase air intake or right to decrease it.
You can also monitor your vaping experience through the integrated 0.96” screen which displays all the relevant, real-time data you need to control your device to suit your preferences.
For versatile vaping, the Smok IPX 80 can be used with either the included IPX 80 RPM 2 pod or the IPX 80 RPM pod (sold separately). When fitted to the device, the pod allows you to clearly see your e-liquid levels so you can keep track of them and ensure your tank does not run dry. When you need to top up your e-liquid, the side fill port makes for fuss-free, clean and convenient refilling.
The ‘duckbill’ design of the mouthpiece means the device fits comfortably to the contours of your lips when vaping.
Whilst a compact device, the IPX 80 is powered by a long-lasting internal 3000 mAh battery and has fast charging capabilities which uses USB-C charging so you can recharge the battery quickly and get back to vaping.
Who is the Smok IPX 80 for?
The Smok IPX 80 is ideal for those vapers looking for a durable device suitable for outdoor use. It is also great for those who like to be in complete control over their vaping experience and switch between MTL and DL vaping.
When used with the included IPX 80 RPM 2 pod the kit is compatible with the RPM 2 coil range. When used with the IPX 80 RPM pod (sold separately) it is compatible with the original RPM coil range.
RPM 2 mesh 0.16 Ω coil: 25 - 50W (Best at 40W)
RPM 2 DC 0.6 Ω coil: 12 - 25W
What e-liquid can you use in the Smok IPX 80?
When used with the included 0.16 RPM 2 mesh coil, the IPX 80 kit is best suited to e-liquids with a VG:PG ratio of 70:30 or above. The 0.6 Ω coil can be used with e-liquids in the region of 50:50 to 60:40.
What does an IPX67 rating mean?
IP (Ingress Protection) is a measure of an electronic device’s resistance to moisture and solid matter such as dust.
A vape device with an IPX67 rating means the device has been classified as dust-tight (will not allow dust into its working parts) and is capable of being immersed into up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes without adverse effects to its performance.
How long does the coil last?
Coil life depends on many factors, including how long you puff for, the e-liquid you use and the wattage you use your coil at. Low resistance coils such as the 0.16 Ω RPM 2 coil, which are used at higher wattages, will not last as long as higher resistance coils such as the 0.6 Ω RPM 2 DC coil.
You can extend coil life by:
- Priming the coil before usage
- Using e-liquid with the right VG: PG ratios
- Not going above the recommended wattage
- Topping up your tank so that the coil never dries out
With care, the RPM 2 mesh 0.16 Ω should last several days, while the RPM 2 DC 0.6 Ω coil should last a week or more.
Is the Smok IPX 80 a Mouth-to-Lung or Direct-Lung device?
The Smok IPX 80 supports both Mouth-to-Lung and Direct-Lung vaping styles depending on the coils and settings used.
When using the RPM 2 mesh 0.16 Ω coil the device can be used for Direct-Lung vaping.
When used with the RPM 2 DC 0.6 Ω coil, the device supports Mouth-to-Lung vaping.
What is the difference between Mouth-to-Lung (MTL) and Direct-Lung (DL) vaping?
In Mouth-to-Lung vaping you inhale vapour and hold it in your mouth for a moment before inhaling again for the vapour to reach your lungs. In Direct-Lung vaping you inhale in one continuous breath into your lungs. See MTL v DL for more information.

Using Your Tank: Best Practice
Follow these simple steps to get the most out of your tank.
- When filling, always avoid getting e-liquid in the centre tube.
- Don’t hold down the button before inhaling.
- When attaching the coil, screw it in firmly but don’t over-tighten.
- Make sure you use the right power settings. If unsure, check the manual or start with a low power setting and work your way up till you get the right hit.
The Right and Wrong Ways to Treat Batteries!
Battery Safety Information
- Ensure you use the correct charging equipment for your e-cig (see below).
- Charge batteries on a hard surface.
- Turn your battery off when not in use.
- Use damaged batteries.
- Leave charging batteries unattended.
- Allow contact between your batteries and water.
- Carry in a pocket with coins or keys. (The Kbag is a great way to carry batteries securely and safely).
- Expose your battery to sunlight, extreme heat or cold.
For more information see our E-Cig Battery Safety Infographic.
Recommended Charging Equipment
We recommend the Veho Plug Adaptor and the Nitecore Intelli charger (for external batteries). Both are high quality devices from a reputable manufacturer, have performed well in testing and have the right voltage output for e-cigs.
Extending Your E-Cig Battery Life
With regular usage, your e-cig battery will usually last for 3 months, although they can last longer. The following steps can help extend the life of your battery
1. Cleaning your battery terminal. The most effective way to do this is to use a cotton swab soaked in alcohol, but you can also clean it with a tissue or a cotton swab.
2. Keeping your battery charged. Keeping some charge in your battery can extend your battery life, especially if you go for some time without using it.
How To Maximise the Life Of Your Coils
Always allow your e-liquid to soak into your coil for at least five minutes before using it. This will help prevent your coil from burning out.
When you have a more powerful coil, or one with more wicking material, it’s also a good idea to prime it by applying a few drops of e-liquid into the coil holes before filling.
Once you’re using the device, it is important to keep your tank topped up. If the e-liquid gets too low and the coil is exposed, the coil can burn out.
